Kiln Dried, Pest-Free and USDA Certified.
Our premium hardwood firewood is kiln dried and heat treated. All material is stored indoors in our top-of-the-line warehouses, which are designed to eliminate mold growth and prevent external contamination. Each firewood bundle is .75 cubic feet and is shrink-wrapped. Each pallet available for delivery holds up to 75 bundles, but partial loads are also available.
Exceeding USDA Moisture Requirements
The USDA requires that wood be dried at 140° for 60 minutes, bringing the wood to 18% moisture internally.
At Eastern Shore Forest Products, we choose to kiln dry our firewood down to 4% to 8% moisture, resulting in a hot and efficiently burning end product that far exceeds industry standards.
THE PRODUCTION PROCESS
Tree Harvesting
We select and purchase the standing trees and utilize our team of certified “Master Loggers” to sustainably harvest the trees.
Splitting & Heat Treating
Wood is then broken down into manageable sized pieces and loaded into kilns where it is extensively heat treated.
Quality Control
Kiln dried wood is presented to our quality control team where only the best cuts of wood are hand selected for packaging.
Bundling
Our high quality premium firewood bundles are inspected and stacked 75 to a pallet.
Packaging
Stacked pallets are then wrapped with a netting wrap to ensure proper air flow.
Storage
Firewood is stored in our climate controlled, food grade facility in Federalsburg, MD.
While many of the bundled firewood products in the marketplace today do not contain the minimum volume claimed by their label, we guarantee each of our bundles meets our volume metrics.
Our firewood is processed, packed, and stored on-site at our industrial firewood facility. Our firewood facility implements industry-exceeding procedures to maintain our premium quality standards during production and storage, keeping our firewood clean, dry, and free from pests and contamination.
